Discipline against doctors

Medical malpractice cases are difficult and most lawyers are extremely selective in choosing malpractice cases. Sometimes it is not an issue of whether the doctor committed malpractice but whether your damages warrant the commencement of a lawsuit. Although, you feel that you are damaged perhaps you have a pre-existing condition, or a large medicare lien, or there are no objective medical tests that can coorelate the pain that you are feeling with the malpractice that occurred. If you cannot find a lawyer to take your case there is another solution... the disciplinary board.

In New York there are disciplinary boards that can revoke or suspend a doctors license. These are the Office of Professional Discipline (for dentists, psychologists and chiropractors) and the Office of Professional Medical Conduct (for physicians). If you contact these organizations you can talk to an investigators and state prosecutors who will work hard to make sure that the doctor is disciplined for their wrongdoings against you.

If you would like more information on these disciplinary bodies contact the Office of Professional Discipline at www.op.nysed.gov/opd.htm or the Office of Professional Medical Conduct www.health.state.ny.us/professionals/doctors/com.
